A Strange, Dangerous, Beautiful Thing
“Take away whatever bottled
memory you had of me —
Take the sorrow and the poison
I dreamt that I might need.
Take the battered broken parts
I thought that I might be;
leave them there among the wreckage,
make it easier to see...”
‘Wonder’
-- The Lone Bellow
I am also the author of the book (publication date TBD) titled “A Strange, Dangerous, Beautiful Thing -- a beacon.” It’s a book that showcases about five years of my life, which I spent heavily immersed in the BDSM and polyamorous communities in an abusive relationship, through the lens of edited journal entries and my present-day reflections on that time with the benefit of hindsight, and how I got from there to here, building a safe, beautiful life … the healing path I’ve taken and am taking.
What I found along the way was … there’s a lot no one tells you about the healing process. How lonely it is, for one — and the cost, for another. The grief of it. Yes, healing is absolutely worth it, in every way conceivable. At the same time — I wish I’d known what to expect.
This book is a map of some of the places where there were holes in the map I was originally handed, metaphorically speaking. My sincere hope is that my journey and the maps I’ve made will help others navigate their own journeys.
I’ll post updates here as I have them — right now, the book is still being written, and I'm in the process of choosing some teaser content to add here to whet your appetite! Content is subject to change in the final product, as drafts go through the editing process, of course, but I am eager to get some of this out into the world. All content is written by me, I never use AI, and all content is copyright 2026. I do not consent to my work being scraped for AI training and if you'd like to use, reproduce, or quote my work beyond a small quotation, please reach out for permission to do so.
I'm also open to hearing feedback from readers, so please feed free to reach out about any thoughts you have while or after reading, once it's posted -- keep an eye on this space, it's coming soon!
